As I prepare for my move to NYC, one of the biggest issues I need to tackle is packing my clothes. I have a predominant summer wardrobe, and while moving in the middle of winter, I need to be resourceful and smart. No deep pockets here for buying a new wardrobe. So as I go through and pick “I love you for nyc, I love you not, I love you for nyc, I love you not”, I also have to think how can I winterize this?

I started by separating my clothes into winter and summer. With the winter clothes I looked at what I could wear by layering or that would be warm enough as a single layer, all the meanwhile editing down. I was also able to dust off those few sweaters that rarely see the light of day. I have to fit everything into 2 suitcases and be mindful of my 50lbs limit, thanks airlines!. While concentrating on just clothes, tops and bottoms, I put together some outfits and photographed them.

I have a pretty good selection of tights that I will wear with a wardrobe that is primarily dresses and skirts. Now I’m off to coordinating my shoes, handbags, plus accessories. Since I’ll be moving more of my closet in stages, what I take now has to last me for at least 2 month before the remaining winter wardrobe makes it way to up to NYC.
