Lulu Guinness’ Victorian living room
Lulu and I go way back, I fell in love with her whimsical handbags and they soon became a collection addiction for me. With her kistch sense of humor displayed on her bags. I imagined her as such a cool lady, who must have an amazing home full of color, vintage inpiration, cool styling and is just so girly. When my hubby and I would take regular jaunts to the UK, I knew I had to visit her shop off of Sloane Square. I purposely planned the day without the hubby, so I could enjoy the experience on my own, under my own conditions.
After taking the tube, getting off at the Sloane Square station. I would stop and get a bite to eat, no where special, just being in London, eating in a little cafe is such a treat. After lunch, I would take out my little note pad, prepped and ready to write down the styles and prices of the items I “had to have” (how to afford them all was another issue). Then, I would make my way down to Ellis Street. Purposely walking on the opposite side of the street so I could stand in front of her shop and admire it. “Oh too cute!!!!” was all I could say….???? It should of been something more substantial.
As I crossed the street and made my way into the little shop, I imagined Lulu would appear from the basement. Perhaps after a design meeting, I would see her in person, in her vintage outfit, bright red lipstick, and punky short hairstyle. And I would proceed to do something dorky like ask for a autograph (“so American”, my hubby would say). Anyway, it never happened.
While I was in her quaint, black and white shop filled with her little beauties, I would walk and admire each item in the store. I’m sure the shopgirl thought I was a nusance, but I was having a fab time. I completed my window shopping by taking a business card (notch on my shoppers’ belt!) and if I was lucky a catalog.
Lulu, (I love that name!) I bet you are such a cool hostess, so full of life, inspiration and creativity and your home a true representation of all you love.
Lulu’s living room
With a room like this….I could wake up feeling so rested and pretty (no, offense hubby + our dog + three cats who sleep with us).
I would love a cup of tea!
Ok, kill me..who is NOT going to feel like a lady while getting ready in here!
If you are unable to shop in person at one of Lulu stores’, you can get a good addiction going with her online shop.
