He’s got a pretty interesting background, an economics degree, a hand in working as an actor in Los Angeles (the home of tee shirts and jeans). He is the designer of the “finely tailored shrunken men’s suit”, and a winner of the 2006 Council of Fashion Designers of America award for menswear.

I get him, some may not. Thom is refreshing, and his tailoring is top notch. Spring 2011 was  the first Thom Browne Women’s RTW collection. It was retro mad men prep, with exaggerated classic elements right down to the pearls. For Fall/Winter 2011, his show kicked off with the models dressed as nuns (a reflection of his Catholic upbringing). The takeaway was a collection of layering, continued exaggeration and that fine tailoring. As you separate the layers,  you have classic gems and for a twist, some wild silhouettes.
